The 55th Annual Vermont Milk Bowl, presented by Northfield Savings Bank, is fast approaching at Barre's Thunder Road. Drivers from throughout New England and Quebec have entered the event. The race takes place Sunday, October 1st, with qualifying races taking place on Saturday, September 30th. Front gates open at 10:00 am each day and the action starts at 1:00 pm; the pit gates open at 8:00 am.
The Milk Bowl is known as "The Toughest Short Track Stock Car Race in North America", not just for its unique three-segment format, but for a qualifying procedure that demands teams are fast early and often. With just 26 starting positions available, the intensity will be high from the moment the first car rolls into the pits. In 2016, the entire Milk Bowl roster was separated by just over half a second in time trials, meaning a slight stumble can be the difference between starting third and thirteenth in a qualifier.
Several past winners are expected to attend, including three-time Milk Bowl Champions Nick Sweet, Patrick Laperle and Kevin Lepage.
The long range weather forecast calls for mostly clear skies and temperatures in the low 60s. What a perfect fall weekend to attend the last race of the season. Good luck to everyone racing. Drive safely!
