Message from NSB CEO

Our team and our partners have been working tirelessly to restore operations in our communities hardest hit by last week’s flooding.

Bethel and Waterbury came back to full service within days of the July 11 closures. Barre Main Street lobby and drive-up service is operational today.

Montpelier State Street remains closed. The water damage was extensive and has necessitated pulling all of our valuables, furnishings, equipment, and documentation from the facility.

We met late last week and early this week with the new property owners to coordinate clean-up and return to service. They have been extremely supportive despite their own challenges with Capitol Plaza.

The property ownership team has removed all flooring and wall materials up to a foot above the high water line. They are collaborating with us to plan a temporary “bank-in-a-box” facility to be transported to and installed at the site.

Our NSB team will be overseeing the temporary installation as it comes to Montpelier, is staffed, and then brought fully operational. The design will allow for inside service as well as one drive-up lane close to where the existing branch drive-up lanes are situated.

During the period we are diligently proceeding with these arrangements, we are grateful for the ongoing patience and resilience of our Montpelier customers. Many are finding their way to our two Barre sites (Main Street and Wall Street complex), our Northfield Main Street office, our Waterbury Main Street office, and other NSB branches, including those throughout Chittenden County. A full listing of our Community Banking branch offices and hours is available here.

In addition to our physical locations, all of our digital services remain accessible. Customers may seek phone assistance from our Customer Support Center at 1-800-NSB-CASH (800-672-2274).

As we have committed to the intensive work of flood response and recovery, we have been concurrently finishing our transformation in downtown Burlington.

Our new Marketplace Office at the corner of Church Street and College Street opened this morning. In an historic building originally built by Howard National Bank in 1902, we have created a beautiful new banking hall. NSB’s Vice President – Facilities, Sherry Doane, and Sr. Vice President – Information Technology, Tim Sargent, have collaborated with DEW Construction, Duncan-Wisniewski Architecture, Christine Burdick Design, multiple contractors, and dedicated NSB team members to bring this vibrant space to life.

NSB does both the big things and the small things well. We are never better than when faced with community or company adversity. We are proud to serve our communities and to serve one another.

Thank you for giving us a purpose that drives the inspiring outcomes I have been privileged to witness.

Stay well,

Tom
