Northfield Savings Bank Foundation Announces $200,000 in Support to Local Nonprofits

Central VT and Chittenden County - Northfield Savings Bank Foundation (NSBF) is pleased to announce two community partnerships and financial support of $200,000 to be utilized over the next two years.  Vermont Professionals of Color (VT PoC) and Elevate Youth Services will each receive a contribution of $100,000 to advance their respective services to our mutually served communities.

NSB Foundation Partners

“The NSB Foundation is proud to honor these two organizations launching invaluable initiatives to enrich our community,” said Nicole Carignan, Chair of the NSBF Board of Directors. “Those of us serving on the Foundation Board are grateful to partner with Vermont Professionals of Color and Elevate Youth Services in support of their work in our state.  We see it as an investment in a brighter future for all.  Together, we make a lasting difference."

In its partnership with VT PoC, NSB Foundation is directing funding to developing an interactive digital platform that welcomes BIPOC residents of Vermont into an opportunity to discover, connect and interact with their local area, making valuable links to shared community.

“We are thrilled to unveil the VT PoCket Guide, our new digital brochure, crafted to empower BIPOC Vermonters with essential information and resources,” states Tinotenda Rutanhira, Executive Director of Business Development and Co-Founder of VT PoC.  “Thanks to the NSB Foundation's funding, this dynamic guide highlights local resources, activities and services, local businesses (with an emphasis on BIPOC-owned establishments), and practical tips like winter prep and finding hair salons.  We encourage everyone to dive in and discover how to make the most of your community at vtpoc.net/vtpocket.”

Ensuring young Vermonters have stable housing and supports to succeed is the essence of the NSB Foundation’s partnership with Elevate Youth Services.  The Foundation’s funding will be put toward expanding the number of housing units available to youth ages 16-22 in Central Vermont, along with the support services that lead to securing permanent housing and employment.

Favor Ellis, Executive Director of Elevate Youth Services, remarks, “Elevate Youth Services is grateful to be in partnership with the NSB Foundation, in support of the health, safety, and stability of Central Vermont's most vulnerable young people.  Support from the Foundation enables us to build community, strengthen relationships, and create opportunities for youth to thrive.”

The NSB Foundation focuses on community partnerships that improve outcomes for Vermonters in the areas of financial literacy, at-risk youth, and education.  These newest partnerships follow a long tradition of Northfield Savings Bank investing in essential programming in Chittenden County and Central Vermont that delivers essential outcomes offering meaningful progress to fellow citizens.
