Northfield Savings Bank Announces Board Leadership Appointments

Central VT and Chittenden County - Northfield Savings Bank (NSB) recently completed an every-third-year transition in the leadership of its Board of Trustees. John W. Lyon has succeeded Mary Alice McKenzie as Board Chair and Nicole Carignan has succeeded Lyon as Board Vice Chair. Lyon and Carignan each have the same roles on the Board of Directors of Northfield Mutual Holding Company.

Lyon is a distinguished graduate of Norwich University, the nation’s first private military college, where he served in the Corps of Cadets. He earned a J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law. Lyon practiced law in Barre before transitioning to his family's enterprise. At Wilkins Harley-Davidson, he is co-owner and general manager. He additionally is co-owner of Vermont Quick Lube and is a licensed Vermont Property and Casualty Insurance Producer. Born and raised in Northfield, Lyon has deep roots in the local community. He resides in Barre with his wife and two daughters and enjoys summers on Joe’s Pond in Danville.

A graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Carignan is the founder of ProfitFusion, a financial services company that works with small entrepreneurial businesses as a partner in finance and operations to guide and grow a business. She previously served at SymQuest Group, 15 years as Chief Financial Officer followed by three years as Chief Operations Officer.  Carignan has been active in community board service. She and her husband, David Raphael, own Jericho Mini Storage, and have supported the UVM Medical Center Integrative Health Program. They reside in Essex, Vermont and enjoy spending summers on Lake Champlain.

In recognizing these appointments approved by Corporators of the company, bank president and CEO Thomas Leavitt said, “We have a tradition of outstanding governance. John’s deep experience here at NSB, and his perspectives from running a highly regarded Vermont enterprise, are a potent combination as he takes the Chair. Nicole has guided the Human Resources & Governance Committee of the Board and brings a range of vital financial and strategic planning skills to her new duties.”  Leavitt added, “Mary Alice has led with impact and poise through a rapidly evolving banking landscape, and we continue to benefit from her commitment as a Trustee.”

Commenting on his new responsibilities, Lyon said, "I am deeply honored to step into the role of Board Chair at Northfield Savings Bank. I am committed to sustaining our independent Vermont roots, building lasting relationships, and ensuring our products and services provide true value.”

In addition to Lyon and Carignan, the Northfield Savings Bank Board of Trustees consists of: John T. Burke, Kyle Dodson, Brian Eagan, Jonathan Jamieson, Thomas Leavitt, Mary Alice McKenzie, Thomas Robbins, Mark Saba, and Kerin Stackpole.
