Overdraft Protection
Hate bounced checks? Get Overdraft Protection!
Bouncing a check, or incurring a service fee because your balance drops too low can happen to anyone. But it doesn't have to happen to you! If you link your checking account to an NSB savings account or another checking account, you can have money swept automatically to protect against these charges.

What accounts qualify? You can link any NSB checking account to a regular Savings, Passport Club Savings or Money Market Savings account. As long as it's a statement account, it can be linked.

You can even protect two accounts against overdraft charges - just designate a secondary checking account on your form. However, you can only set up minimum balance protection for your primary checking account.

What are the details? Money is drawn in $100 increments, automatically, to prevent an overdraft fee (overdraft protection) or service charge (minimum balance protection) from being incurred. The number of automatic, preauthorized and telephone transfer withdrawals from your savings account to another NSB account or to a third party is limited to six per month, with no more than three by draft, debit card or similar order to third parties.

And it's easy.
Click here to download an Overdraft Protection Form. A fee of $3.00 will be charged for each automatic transfer of funds performed by this service.

Combined Statements

Rather than receiving multiple paper statements at different times of the month, all of your NSB savings, club and checking account information can be combined into one statement. You will receive one easy-to-read record, allowing you to balance all of your accounts at once.

Debit Card

Looks like a credit card. Acts like a check. And it's an ATM Card, too!

The NSB Debit Card is a convenient way to track your spending
accurately - and is much safer than carrying cash. Each time you make a purchase using your NSB Debit Card, your monthly bank statement will include all the transaction details: when, where, and how much you spent.

Save money with your NSB Debit Card:
  • No annual fee
  • Free transfers between NSB accounts via ATM
  • Reasonable currency exchange rates when accessing funds in a foreign country.

Use it as an ATM Card
The NSB Debit Card works just like an ATM Card at our convenient automated teller machines. As a founding member of the Falcon Network, NSB customers can save money by accessing any of the nearly 100 surcharge-free ATM locations throughout Vermont. NSB also belongs to national and international networks for access to even more ATM locations. NSB Debit Cardholders can also make higher-than-average withdrawals; you may withdraw up to $500 of the available balance in your checking or savings account each day.

Use it as a Debit Card
Whether you are shopping around the corner or around the world, there are no bills to pay later; purchase amounts are automatically withdrawn from your checking account. Because it carries the MasterCard symbol, our NSB Debit Card is welcome anywhere MasterCard is accepted. Your daily spending limit is up to $1,500 of your available balance in your primary checking account.

Remember to say "Credit" and sign for your transactions
Will that be "Credit or Debit"?
This is a common question at many checkout stands. Always answer credit!

Why say "Credit" when using a "Debit" card?
Selecting credit provides you with the most details when the transaction shows on your statement. Also, by selecting credit and signing for your transaction, you will be entered into any contest or promotion being run by MasterCard. MasterCard gives away fabulous vacations, cars, houses, and CASH! But only those who say "Credit" and sign for their purchases are entered to win. Visit
MasterCard's web site for the latest details.

NEVER write your PIN on your card.
If your card is ever lost or stolen, call NSB immediately at 800-NSB-CASH. Instructions on how to report the loss are available 24 hours a day.

    What accounts qualify?
You can use your NSB Debit Card as long as you have an NSB checking account.

    And it's easy.
Just ask an NSB Service Representative for an ATM/Debit Card Agreement form the next time you visit your branch, or download a version of the Agreement form and print it out.

To ensure full use of your debit or ATM card, please contact NSB prior to traveling outside the United States so we may update your card for international use.

    ATM Cards

Access your accounts quickly and safely.

Using an ATM Card is fast and convenient.
You can use an ATM Card to access your NSB checking or savings account - you can link up to 10 accounts from your ATM Card, and you can use it all over Vermont (and all over the U.S.). You can use your ATM Card at any machine with these logos: NYCE®, Cirrus®, Maestro®, and the Falcon Network (machines found throughout Vermont). Even minors can use an ATM Card with parental permission.

    Tracking your spending is easy.
Your ATM withdrawals will show up on your monthly statement. You can also track your activity online when you use
    eNSB, our online banking service.

    What does it cost?
NSB does not charge for any ATM withdrawals made from its own ATM machines, or from within the Falcon Network of statewide ATMs. However, NSB will charge a fee when you use any other ATM. And if the owner of the ATM you use also charges a fee, it will be disclosed on the machine. Please refer to the NSB Service Fee Schedule.

What if I don't have a checking account?
You can get an NSB ATM Card to link to your savings account (some restrictions apply).

Or you can apply for an ATM/Debit Card!
If you have an NSB checking account, you can use our NSB MasterMoney™ Debit Card - it's an ATM Card and a Debit Card in one.

Get an ATM/ Debit Card Agreement form, visit your local branch, or contact Customer Service to request one.

    PhoneBank

No time to go to a branch? Need to check your balance? Make a transfer between accounts? It's fast, it's free, it's easy - and you can get the information you need, when you need it. As long as you have a touch-tone phone, you're ready to use the automated NSB PhoneBank.

    Reorder Your Checks Online!

Lost your reorder slip? No time to get to the bank? Here is a quick, convenient way to reorder your checks in the same style, providing you do not wish to change your address or check numbering. If you are a current customer, and want to reorder checks, you can
order online from our check printing company's web site. Please note: This re-order service does not display pricing options and may not work on all browsers. If you would like to order a different style of check or change your personal information, you may do so through any NSB branch.

    Check Images

Check images are available as part of our ongoing commitment to making your banking more convenient. Instead of a bulky pile of cancelled checks, you can receive eStatements which include images of your checks presented in numerical order. eStatements and images can be saved electronically and printed at your convenience. This service is available through eNSB, our online banking program.
